It is clear to all now that #RunwayHeat is indeed serious about it’s set mission: to find 100 models and designers across Uganda and avail them a platform to showcase their potential.
With the Jinja auditions held on June 26th, our next stop was to be Mbale town.
Dubbed “The Far East auditions”, this was bound to be a battle between the Jinja contestants and Mbale aspirants since both towns were fighting for space on the Eastern region ticket.

The original cast, led by Arnolda Linda and Avan Kavy arrived to a rainy welcome in Mbale town on Eid day, Sunday 25th June, and immediately hit the town with a massive show of presence.
Flanked by the Runway Heat eye-popping KIA Sorento beasts and the unstoppable Nbs-Always team armed with vans and outdoor broadcast trucks, Runway Heat stars painted Mbale gold and red, effectively bullying the town’s aspirants and heightening the residents’ curiosity.
Nbs is the authority on live broadcast in Uganda, and an advance team had left a day earlier to prepare, and on Friday 23rd June After5 host Mc Kats and DvJ Mercy took to the streets of Mbale, connecting the town folk live to the rest of Uganda while playing their favorite music by request.
Flosha Shaka also featured on Tuff B’s “KURT” super hits show the next day, Saturday, live from the prestigious Mbale Resort Hotel, a 5-star wonder amidst the hills and greens of Mbale.
On Sunday, the auditions kicked off a bit late due to mild weather, but by 10pm the venue, Thatch Gardens, was a beehive as people flocked in, took seats and grabbed their favorite drinks while enjoying an awesome mix session by Mr.Scratch Dj Mark himself.
Runway Heat host Flosha Shaka the Boss model stormed stage at 11pm, taking the audience through 2 hours of nonstop action which included presenting the original cast from Kampala and Entebbe, unveiling the Jinja cast before throwing the ball to Mbale to present their challengers.
Though nervous at first, Mbale’s finest slowly trickled backstage to register and hit the runway.
Photographer and judge Giulio Molfese joined Flosha to tackle the aspirants.
Mbale came out in full to support their own, and the over 800 ravelers cheered, heckled or laughed their way through the action, at the end of which 3 models emerged finalists to join the runway heat cast.
The highlight of the night was a captivating performance by Cindy Sanyu followed by an afterparty with Dj Mark who got Mbale dancing until the wee hours of the morning.
Catch all the action on Nbs-Always every Thursday 8pm on the Runway Heat Tv Show, plus repeats on Saturdays 4pm.
Be sure to attend activations in your town to win goodies from Nbs like t-shirts, caps, stickers, cash and interviews live on air.
Encourage that friend you think can model or design to join, after all, there is a brand new KIA to be won at the end of it all!
